CDL Goes Country!

CDL Insight Consulting has a proud reputation for going to wherever the client needs us to be and over the years that has led to us providing services in many, very unique locations across New Zealand and Australia. Our latest request through, took ‘unique’ to a completely different level.

The Head Office of the company who became a new client for CDL, has its Head Office in the North Island, however their annual retreat this year, attended by all staff including the CEO, was to be held in Hinewai Reserve on Banks Peninsula, literally in the middle of nowhere. CDL was invited to provide a Personal Resilience Workshop to enhance skills in managing ongoing business and industry changes as well as demonstrating the business commitment to personal growth for their people also.

The room where the workshop was to be delivered was actually a hut. No electricity, internet connection or equipment and resources that would typically be available for workshop delivery. Getting to the hut involved hiking down a grassy trail, steep in places and certainly the potential to be muddy had we encountered a wet day; workbooks packed neatly into a tramping pack, portable flip chart carried under one arm, and CDL was ready.

The irony of the venue we found ourselves in, while providing a personal resilience workshop, was not lost on us!

The workshop was brilliantly facilitated by our change and resilience guru, Kirsten Nichol and the afternoon was filled with lots of vibrant discussion, learning and discovery in a setting that would simply be difficult to beat.

"It’s not every day you come away from a mini workshop having learned something meaningful about yourself.

"However, many of the 3R Group team who attended the CDL Insight Consulting resilience workshop can attest to being more in-tune with their level of resilience, as well as how to grow it.

"Workshop presenter Kirsten Nicholl proved to be a wonderfully engaging and knowledgeable coach who made maximum use of her two hours with us. This was reflected by the high level of active participation by the 3R team.

"The venue, a hut in the Hinewai Reserve on Banks Peninsula, was certainly not the usual setting for a corporate workshop, but Kirsten took it in her stride. The use of a more “analogue” presentation device, i.e. good old whiteboard and paper, was also refreshing and somewhat fitting considering the setting."
