Wim van Petegem
Wim has more than 30 years’ experience as a Career and Transition Coach, as Assistant and District Superintendent with the previous Department of Labour, Area Manager with the New Zealand Employment Service, and since 1991 as the owner of a career and immigration consultancy.
Respectful, focused and encouraging, Wim specialises in employment advice and supporting people into work. As the former Chairperson of more than 25 trades committees, Wim has an extensive field knowledge of trades and trade training.
Wim brings to CDL extensive experience in employment, industrial relations and managing change.
In his role as Manager of a vocational consulting firm, Wim has been instrumental in working with ACC and has had 20 years’ experience with the Department of Labour (now MBIE) as a worker and as a manager. Wim also manages an immigration consulting service that assists employers to recruit international talent.
Wim’s considerable experience includes the administration of trade training legislation, career counselling and employment mediation.
As the District Manager of the Employment and Vocational Guidance Services within the Department of Labour, Wim facilitated numerous workshops on topics that included recruitment, financial management, personal marketing, interview skills, negotiation, staff supervision and senior management skills.
Wim has had 10 years as a member of CDANZ and regularly maintains his professional development through attending seminars and workshops in the career management field.
